Submission Status: Closed

Summary and scope
This Special Issue focuses primarily on cutting-edge topics related to design, processing and development along with the mechanism involved in product design, processing and advanced manufacturing. It also covers thermo-mechanical processing, physical and numerical simulation, reverse engineering, additive manufacturing, rapid tooling; machining mechanism and computational modeling.

There is a growing demand of cutting-edge fabricating processes in applications going from biomedical to aviation. Modeling and mechanistic understanding of any physical phenomena plays an important role in the growth, hybridization and optimization of any manufacturing processes with abilities past those right now accessible.

This Special Issue will spread ongoing exploration, speculations, and practices pertinent to areas of item plan, assembling innovation to areas of product design, development and manufacturing technology to improve the industrial performance. It will underline the potential for interdisciplinary interactions between traditional modeling approaches and advanced modeling approaches that can include virtual manufacturing processes as a source of new information.

The following topics are of special interest:

  • Innovative approach for process design and development
  • Rapid prototyping: A journey from design to product
  • Physical simulation related to materials forming and joining
  • Various design optimization methods to optimize shape & size, topography in the domain of advanced manufacturing
  • Finite element simulation for modeling and analysis of various manufacturing processes including casting, forming, welding, machining etc
  • Modeling and Simulation in additive manufacturing: A Mathematical and/or computational approach

Submission guidelines
All papers must be prepared in accordance with the Instructions for Authors (this opens in a new tab). Authors should submit through the online submission site (this opens in a new tab) and select article type “SI - Computational, Numerical and Physical Modeling & Simulation for Process Design, Development and Manufacturing".

Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the Special Issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least two independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Final decisions on all papers are made by the Editor-in-Chief.
