Aims and scope

International Journal on Interactive Design and Manufacturing (IJIDeM) encompasses design and manufacturing, with computer modelling, simulation and analysis being at the heart of our publication.  We are primarily interested in the manufacture of discrete products.  By “design,” we mean the conceptualisation of artefacts that are intended for manufacture

We would expect manuscripts to show how design and/or manufacturing problems have been solved using computer modelling, simulation and analysis (abbreviated hereafter as ‘computing’).

To be within scope, papers should address one of the following subject combinations: (design, ‘computing’), (manufacturing, ‘computing’) and (design, manufacturing, ‘computing’).

We encourage the submission of papers discussing the interaction between design and manufacturing.

We are interested in new solution techniques as well as new applications. However, papers purely on design or manufacturing, for example, design theory or manufacturing processes, without the involvement of ‘computing’, are likely to be out of scope. Conversely, papers on ‘computing’ without at least a strong indication of applicability to design or manufacturing are also likely to be not relevant to the Journal.
