EDITORIAL POLICY / PEER REVIEW

Full-text articles (regular, reviews, or letters to the editor) are subject to peer review by at least two independent referees and are published in special thematic issues of the journal.

In continuance of traditions nearly a century in existence, the topic of every issue is defined by the Editorial Board as recommended by the Russian Academy of Sciences, which is a globally recognized society of scientific experts.

Usually, the topics are subjects of international conferences, symposia, and workshops organized by the Russian Academy of Sciences. Once the candidate presentation is delivered at scientific events, the organizing committees select the most interesting of the results for remastering as detailed full-text manuscripts, which are then peer reviewed.

The team of reviewers of Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics includes over 270 experts. The average period from submission to first decision in 2018 was 30 days, and from first decision to acceptance, 30 days.

The rejection rate in 2018 was 40%. The final decision on acceptance of an article for publication is made by the Editorial Board.

Any invited reviewer who feels unqualified or unable to review the manuscript due to the conflict of interests should promptly notify the editors and decline the invitation. Personal criticism of the authors must be avoided. Reviewers should indicate in a review (i) any relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors, (ii) anything that has been reported in previous publications and not given appropriate reference or citation, (ii) any substantial similarity or overlap with any other manuscript (published or unpublished) of which they have personal knowledge.
