Publizistik

Vierteljahreshefte für Kommunikationsforschung

Publishing model:

Aims and scope

Publizistik ("Communication Studies") is an academic, double-blind peer-reviewed journal, which publishes research from all areas of communication studies.

Each issue contains approximately four original papers, editorial content (encomiums of representatives of disciplines, appointments, habilitations and obituaries) and book reviews. In addition, critical essays and discursive columns commissioned and internally reviewed by the editorial board are published in the categories "Discussion Forum", "Communication Studies International" and "Media Politics International" at irregular intervals. The topics of the papers reflect the self-conception of communication studies as a systematic social science. While the journal focuses on empirical research results (for example on media content, media use and media effects), traditional subjects have been studies on political communication and media politics, journalism and communicator research as well as the history and development of communication research.

In the six decades of its existence, Publizistik has published most of the well-known representatives of journalism and communication studies in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland. Nevertheless, the editorial board explicitly welcomes submissions in German and English language by young researchers.
