Prof. Michal Malinowski is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) and as a Professor in Department of Geophysical Imaging, Institute of Geophysics PAS. His research interests were evolving from crustal-scale studies from controlled-source seismology to exploration-scale studies focusing on the use of reflection seismic methods in mineral exploration in hardrock environment. Together with his research group at the Institute of Geophysics PAS, he has been developing methodologies for improved imaging of the subsurface including full-waveform inversion, seismic interferometry, quantitative seismic interpretation, seismic data conditioning and denoising. His current research interests include data acquisition with fibre-optics (DAS), use of seismic methods in low-enthalpy geothermal studies and characterisation of the fractured-bedrock groundwater systems. Between 2017 and January 2022 Prof. Malinowski was acting as Co-Editor-in-Chief responsible for the Applied Geophysics section and from February 2022 to February 2024 he was serving as an Associate Editor.

Prof. Gabriela Fernández Viejo is a lecturer at the Department of Geology of University of Oviedo (Spain) since 2003. During her career, after completing her PhD thesis in seismic refraction/wide angle reflection at University of Barcelona-CSIC, she was a postdoctoral researcher at University of British Columbia and a Marie curie Fellow at University of Copenhagen. Her main contributions in the field of Earth Science have been in the advance of knowledge related to the structure, evolution and formation of the North Iberian margin and Cantabrian Cordillera through different geophysical methods, primarily seismic active records and recently evolving to passive seismology.  In addition, some studies were published relating the North Sea and The Canadian cordillera. A secondary line of research pertain to shallow geophysics, where studies in archaeology, engineering or mining have been done through seismic and electric methods. She also supervises undergraduate Master thesis and PhD thesis. Her most recent research involve the integration of seismological data with geomorphological indicators and exploring the processes occurring in hyperextended margins and their reactivation.

Ali Gholami received the Ph.D. degree in geophysics in 2010 from the University of Tehran, Iran. He is a Full Professor at the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, Iran, and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poland. His research interests include inverse problems, statistical signal processing, compressed sensing, regularization methods, and application of these methods to seismic data processing, imaging, and inversion. He has teaching experience on Geophysical Time Series Analysis, Inverse Methods in Geophysics, Numerical Analysis, Seismology, and Seismic Data Processing, for more than 10 years. He also supervised 10 Ph.D. and 30 M.Sc. theses and published more than 70 papers in peer reviewed international journals and numerous abstracts. He has received Sobouti-Khajehpour Award for influential research in earth sciences in Iran. Ali is also a member of Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).

He is Professor Emeritus in Meteorology and Climatology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He pursued his graduate studies (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) in Atmospheric Sciences, University of Wyoming, USA. He has published extensively and has participated in, and organized, numerous Conferences and Workshops, worldwide. He coordinated several national-international research projects on his expertise interests: weather modification, synoptic and dynamic meteorology, extreme weather events, cloud physics, climatic change. He designed the Greek National Hail Suppression program. He has supervised 27 PhDs and 51 MScs theses. He was the Vice-President of the AUTH Research Committee. He is Vice-President of the Greek National Meteorological Society.

Aderson Farias do Nascimento is a Full Professor at the Department of Geophysics of the Federal Universiti of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN, Natal, Brazil). He has degrees in Physics and a Master's in Geophysics from UFRN, and a PhD from the University of Edinburgh. Prof. Nascimento has been working with natural and induced seismicity and some applications of seismology in industry. He has experience in project management with the private and public sectors and has held several positions at UFRN administration since 2004. Now he is the International Affairs Officer for UFRN and an Innovation Advisory Committee Member for the European Plate Observing System-EPOS TCS AH (Thematic Core Service Anthropogenic Hazards).

Jochen Aberle is Professor at the Leichtweiß-Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources (LWI) at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. He is a Civil Engineer and received his PhD in 2000 from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) in Germany. Afterwards, he spent 2 years as Postdoc at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) in New Zealand and worked at LWI from 2003 to 2012 as a Research Associate before he became a Full Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2012. In 2017, he returned to LWI as Professor of Hydraulic Engineering and River Morphology. His research expertise includes river morphology, sediment transport, rough bed flows, flow-vegetation-sediment interaction, fluid-structure interaction, and experimental methods in the field and laboratory.

A geophysical engineer from UNAM, and PhD from the University of Colorado-Boulder in the USA. He is currently a senior researcher at the Center for Geosciences, UNAM. He is internationally recognized for his work in evaluating variations of natural and artificial seismicity. He has taught courses, in addition to UNAM and other Mexican Universities, at the University of Colorado, USA, the Polytechnic School of Ecuador, and the University of Costa Rica. He has been a visiting researcher at CICESE, Ensenada, Mexico, at the Institute of Geophysics of the University of Alaska and at the Center for Geological and Nuclear Sciences Ltd in New Zealand.

Mehdi Abdolmaleki is a postdoctoral fellow with the department of Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto, Canada. He received his PhD in 2018 from Isfahan university of Technology. He worked as a researcher at the Department of Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering, Lulea University of Technology, Sweden, from February 2019 till December 2021. Mehdi got all his academic degrees in mining engineering, in particular mineral exploration using remote sensing satellite data. His research is mostly focused on understanding and modeling of land surface processes, their parameterizations in potential mapping, and monitoring environmental impact of land activity also, he is mainly interested in utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques in the earth science topics.

His research activities include the implementation of inferential methods for model parameter estimation for physical and stochastic models, and for assessing uncertainties. He has developed research considering fluid-induced seismicity associated with natural (as e.g., in volcanic areas or hydrogeologically-triggered seismicity) and anthropogenic (e.g., geothermal or oil&gas areas) environments.

He is associate Professor at Physics Department of University of Naples Federico II. He is a seismologist, his main research interests are earthquake source and seismic wave propagation, numerical modelling of earthquakes, analysis of microseismicity and earthquake early warning. He manages INFO, the Irpinia Near Fault Observatory, an advanced infrastructure with the goal of monitoring physical processes occurring on the faults in Southern Apennines.

Maya Ilieva is a geodesist, specialized in radar remote sensing for natural and man-made hazards. She holds a PhD degree in Geosciences from University Pierre and Marie Curie – Paris 6, France. She has been an associate professor (head of department Geodesy and geoinformatics) in University of architecture, civil engineering and geodesy, Sofia, and an invited lecturer in the University of mining and geology, Sofia, Bulgaria. Currently she is a researcher in the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Poland. Her areas of research are in natural and induced seismicity, mining deformations, deformation modelling. 

Grzegorz KwiatekGrzegorz Kwiatek

Grzegorz Kwiatek is a Senior Researcher at Section 4.2: Geomechanics and Scientific Drilling of the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences and a Geophysical Consultant at fastloc GmbH. His research focuses on the analysis induced seismicity towards understanding interactions between physical processes in earthquake source, geomechanical properties of geo-reservoirs in response to engineering operations, and resulting seismic hazard. His another area of interests covers earthquake nucleation, propagation and earthquake scaling relations in broad range of scales between the acoustic emission activity recorded in laboratory experiments on rock samples, mezo-scale in-situ laboratories and microseismicity recorded in-situ.

Full Professor in the Department of Seismology of Institute of Geophysics Polish PAS. Graduated as a physicist, in 1975 he linked to seismology. His main research interest is applying statistical methods to analyzing natural and anthropogenic seismicity and assessing and managing the time-dependent anthropogenic seismic hazard. He has authored over 140 research papers, coordinated or participated in many research and innovation projects: Polish, European,  US, and South African. He chairs the Triggered and Induced Seismicity Working Group of the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth Interior. Since 2010 he has been involved in integrating anthropogenic seismicity research infrastructure within the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) integration project. Currently, he is a director of the EPOS Thematic Core Service Anthropogenic Hazards consortium of twelve European research and industrial organizations.

Beata Orlecka-Sikora is a full Professor at the Institute of Geophysics PAS (IG PAS) in Warsaw and General Director of IG PAS. She is the Coordinator of the GeoPlanet Centre of five Institutes of PAS, aiming to integrate and strengthen the research, organizational, and infrastructural potential to conduct interdisciplinary projects in Earth sciences. Since 2010, she has been involved in developing a world-class Thematic Core Service Anthropogenic Hazards within the EPOS Program, which integrates the community dealing with the problems of anthropogenic hazards due to exploitation of resources and research infrastructure in this field. Her domain of interest is anthropogenic and natural seismicity, earthquake interaction, seismic hazard assessment, and statistical seismology.

Alessandro ParrisiAlessandro Parisi
Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy

Alessandro Parisi, PhD in Risk and environmental, territorial and building development at the Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy). His research fields are mainly related to Disaster Risk Management and Reduction, cascading disasters, risk analysis, and karst groundwater monitoring and modeling. He collaborated with the Cascading Disasters Research Group of UCL-IRDR, working on a scenario-building process of cascading vulnerability scenarios related to the management of groundwater depletion and salinization in semi-arid areas. Currently, he is involved as research grant-holder within the MEDSAL Project (founded by PRIMA and European Commission), focusing on karst groundwater monitoring and modeling, data collection and analysis.

Dr. Gilberto Saccorotti is a senior scientist at the National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in Pisa, Italy. He got a MS degree in Geological Sciences at the University of Firenze and a PhD in Geophysics and Volcanology at the University of Napoli. His researches mainly account for seismic sources and wavefields associated with fluid-rock interaction of either natural or anthropogenic origin.  He was a scientist-in-charge of INGV’s department in Pisa, and a member of INGV’s Board of Directors. He coordinates INGV’s Center for Monitoring of Subsoil Activities, and chairs the Consortium Board of EPOS Thematic Core Service ‘Anthropogenic Hazards’. Caterina Samela is a Researcher at the National Research Council of Italy - Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis (CNR-IMAA). She is an environmental engineer with a Ph.D. in the fields of Hydrology and Hydraulics. Her primary interests are related to flood risk, hydro-geomorphology, Digital Elevation Model (DEM)-based analyses, remote sensing and analyses in data-scarce environments. Her research activity focuses on the definition of data-driven methods with applications in multiple fields, including fluvial and pluvial flood risk assessment and detection, hydrological models and river monitoring.

Dr. Šílený is a senior scientist, during most of his career dealing with seismic source modeling, with the emphasis on inverse task for the retrieval of the mechanism including a reliable estimate of its confidence. He has suggested algorithms for determination of the mechanism in observational setups which do not allow obtaining the complete solution, e.g., in monitoring of seismicity by sensors placed in a borehole. Treating these tasks is beneficial for monitoring of the rock-mass state in industrial applications like mining, oil and gas extraction, geothermal energy exploitation, radioactive waste disposal etc.

Professor Stoulos holds an associated Professorship at the AUTH co- establish one of the nation's top research laboratories in Nuclear Physics Applications based on α- and γ-spectroscopy systems. His research interests include radiation detection methods, environmental radioactivity and geoscience, medical physics, and dosimetry. He has also worked on spallation neutron sources – accelerator-driven systems and nuclear reactions cross-section related to energy production through fission and astrophysical γ-processes. Daniele P. Viero is an associate professor of Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics at the University of Padova (Italy).
His research mainly focuses on free-surface geophysical flows by means of numerical modelling, field and laboratory experiments.
Specifically, his research included high-velocity flows and shock wave reflections, open-channel and overland flow, river modelling, flooding of rural and urban areas, flood forecasting using physics-based and statistical models, sediment transport and geomorphological processes, water renewal in tidal basins, estuarine hydrodynamics including tidal bores and salt wedge intrusion, lagoon hydro- and morpho-dynamics, flood risk assessment, CFD modelling of turbulent flows on rough natural beds.

Dr. Maha Abdelazeem received a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. from Cairo University in potential field inversion and interpretation. She has a higher studies diploma in laser environmental application from Cairo University/NILES Institute. She is a full professor at the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), geomagnetism and electricity department, Egypt. Currently, she is teaching the inverse problem.  She was the PI for a national development project for groundwater aquifer in the northwestern desert of Egypt, and a project manager and team member in many other projects including gold exploration and deep structures. Her main research interests include mathematical modelling, inversion of potential field data, programming and algorithm design, metaheuristic inversion, and AI applications in geophysics.

Rafał Czarny is a postdoctoral researcher at Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. His research interests focus on subsurface imaging and monitoring with wave methods, including but not limited to ambient seismic noise interferometry, surface-wave analysis, and ground penetrating radar. Graduated (1972) from the AGH University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Geological Prospection, Krakow, Poland still belongs to the AGH UST, Faculty of Geology Geophysics and Environmental Protection staff. Area of interest – comprehensive interpretation of well logs combined with the laboratory results to construct models of the reservoir formations including conventional hydrocarbon deposits, shale gas plays and aquifers, application of ANN to determine petrophysical parameters, i.e. porosity, permeability, TOC and others, numerical and statistical modeling in acoustic and resistivity logs. Dr. Mendecki is the Assistant Professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. In 2014, he received Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the University of Silesia, Poland. His Ph.D. thesis concerned the application of seismic noise in geoengineering. Maciej Mendecki got an experience in near-surface geophysics (shallow seismic, engineering seismology, geoelectric and electromagnetic) and in further studies focused on seismology, especially mining seismology. He has a particular interest in statistical seismology and seismic hazard. His study focused on reducing the mining rock burst hazard, analysing torpedo blasting effectiveness and ground motion models in mines. Recently, he started dealing with natural seismology investigating seismicity and geodynamics Alpine-Pannonian-Carpathian region (PACASE project, AdriaArray project). His areas of interest are: Near-surface geophysics, Environmental geophysics, Mining geophysics, Statistical Seismology, and Mining-induced seismicity.

Since 2004 she has been working at Belsk Observatory, Institute of Geophysics Polish Academy of Sciences, where she habilitated in 2019. Her areas of interest are magnetotellurics and other electromagnetic induction methods with an emphasis on data processing, noise reduction, and offshore applications as well as geomagnetic observations and Schumann Resonances along with investigation of their sources.

Dr. Bogdan Mihai Niculescu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, University of Bucharest. He received a Geological Engineering—Geophysics specialization degree (1991) and a Ph.D. in Applied Geophysics degree (2002) both from the University of Bucharest. He is working in education and research positions since 1991 in the same university. Between 1997 and 1999 he was an exploration geophysicist and geophysical consultant for a mining company in Chile, South America, carrying out geophysical surveys for the identification of copper–gold ore deposits in Atacama region. His main fields of expertise and research interests are borehole geophysics (well logging) and formation evaluation, petrophysics, and the application of surface geophysical methods (geoelectrical, electromagnetic, magnetometric, and gravity surveys) for mineral resources, environmental hazards, and archaeological investigations.

Prof. Sanjit Kumar Pal is working as a Professor and Head at the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, India. In 2009, he received a Ph.D. in Geology and Geophysics from IIT, Kharagpur, India. Initially, he served as a Geophysicist in the NHPC Limited, India. Dr. Ahmed E. Radwan is an adjunct professor at the Institute of Geological Sciences of Jagiellonian University (Poland). Dr. Radwan has academic and industrial experience since he obtained his Ph.D. in geophysics, besides his proficient work in the petroleum industry. Dr. Radwan has received many prizes from international organizations. Dr. Radwan has authored more than 100 papers in highly indexed international peer-reviewed journals, co-edited three books, published many book chapters, and presented at numerous international conferences. Besides his role as Editor in Applied Geophysics, he is currently a member of the editorial boards of Asian Earth Sciences-X, Geoenergy Sciences and Engineering, Petroleum Research, Geological Journal, and Petroleum exploration and production technology. His research interests focused on multidisciplinary research integrating geophysical applications with other geosciences, petroleum engineering, reservoir engineering, and artificial intelligence.

Ivana VasiljevicIvana Vasiljević

Ivana Vasiljević is an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Geophysics at the Faculty of Mining and Geology, University of Belgrade. Her interests include a wide range of topics connected to the gravity field investigations – from geoid determination to microgravimetry problems. Current research interests are mainly in the area of potential filed data modeling and inversion. The other area of research, mostly conducted in recent years, is the application of geophysical well logging in civil engineering and hydrogeology.

Liang XiaoLiang Xiao
China University of Geoscience, China

Dr. Xiao holds a B.Sc in applied geophysics (2004) from Yangtzeu University, China, a M.A.Sc. (2007) and a Ph.D. (2012) in geological resources and geological engineering from China University of Petroleum, Beijing. From 2012 to 2014, he was as a postdoctoral research fellow at China University of Geosciences, Beijing. He is currently an associate professor in China University of Geosciences, Beijing. Dr. Xiao’s research interests include formation evaluation, geophysical well logging, unconventional reservoirs (tight oil/gas, coalbed methane, shale gas) pore structure characterization, and applied NMR logging. More than 40 relevant papers have been published.

Qamar Yasin is a research geoscientist with over 16 years of experience in industry and academia. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences. He has extensive experience in the interpretation of quantitative and qualitative log data, seismic inversion, rock physics, seismic modeling, well & core log data analysis, and artificial intelligence, including machine learning and deep learning. Moreover, he has experience in the characterization and geomechanical analysis of unconventional reservoirs.
Qamar Yasin holds a PhD in Geophysics with distinction and is the author of 49 international research publications. Prof. Andrzej Krankowski has an extensive research experience in classical and GNSS geodetic control networks, GNSS precise data processing in the frame of IGS and EPN services, and precise ionosphere modeling based on GNSS data and in-situ measurements. During his research he especially developed new algorithms for precise modeling and forecasting of disturbed ionosphere. Currently, his algorithms provide high spatial (150 – 200 km) and temporal (5 min.) resolution of TEC  maps (especially over Europe). This high spatial and temporal resolution represents all local and regional features of TEC distribution and can be used for detecting ionospheric features associated with geomagnetic storms, solar flares, solar eclipses and seismic events. Prof. Andrzej Krankowski also developed several algorithms for long- and short-term precise TEC forecasting. Since 2007 he is the Chairman of the International GNSS Service (IGS) Ionosphere Working Group and the member of the IGS Governing Board. Since 2015 he is the Chairman of the POLFAR (POlish Low Frequency ARray) Consortium and representative of POLFAR to International LOFAR Telescope (ILT) Governing Board. Rudolfo ConsoleRodolfo Console

He was a researcher at ING-INGV from 1968 managing the Italian Seismological Network and developing data acquisition and analysis software for the real time seismic monitoring system. He retired from INGV in 2004. He was a lecturer of seismology at the University "Roma Tre" of Rome from 1997 to 2009 and lecturer for the PhD course in Geophysics at the University of Bologna from 2001 to 2015. The area of ​​his scientific activity is global tectonics and convection in the Earth's mantle and physical processes taking place on other celestial bodies. In her career, she cooperated with about 50 foreign institutions, participated in several field experiments, 90 scientific meetings and 60 research projects (in 18 as a scientifically responsible researcher). She has teaching experience on Seismology for more than 30 years and is also supervising undergraduate, Master and Ph. D. theses. She published more than 220 papers and got over 2500 citations. She is a member of 8 Scientific societies & 11 Special Committees and Councils.

Norikazu Suzuki is a Professor at College of Science and Technology, Nihon University. From 1990 to 1991, he was a visiting student at Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik, Heidelberg, Germany. He received a Ph.D. in physics from Nihon University in 1992. He has been interested in complex systems science since 2000. With a background in theoretical physics, his current research interest is in seismicity in view of science of complex systems. His approach is based on theory of complex networks, nonlinear time series analysis, stochastic processes, and nonequilibrium statistical mechanics.

His scientific research is focused on the statistical analysis of geophysical and environmental processes. His main research fields comprise statistics of point processes, fractals, multifractals, informational and topological time series analysis, statistical seismology, hydrologic and remote sensing time series analysis.
