Current Medical Science - Current Medical Science_Youth Editorial Board Member Recruiting

Current Medical Science is recruiting Youth Editorial Board Members with expertise across all medical fields for our new editorial initiative. To increase our engagement with the Youth Editorial Board and community at large, we are starting a collaborative editorial model whereby Youth Editorial Board Members assess manuscripts in their areas of expertise alongside the in-house Editorial team. We are recruiting new Youth Editorial Board Members who will work with our in-house Editors to ensure that all manuscripts are subject to the same editorial standards and journal policies.

Who are we looking for?

Successful candidates include:

  • Outstanding scholars who are engaged in scientific research in the fields of biomedicine, clinical medicine, public health, and traditional medicine, possess a doctoral degree, less than 15 years after receiving the doctorate, and have several research papers published in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Individuals with a passion for innovation in scientific publishing, the drive to be an advocate for their field.
  • Those willing to actively contribute to the development and promotion of the journal in their areas of expertise, willing and able to participate in journal work.

We are particularly interested in individuals who are in the early or developing stages of their independent research careers, to be more inclusive of the research community.

What are the responsibilities?

You will work together with in-house, professional editors to serve the community by assessing, selecting, and helping to improve the papers that the journal publishes. The initial term lasts for four years, after which it can be renewed, and entails the following:

  • Prescreening and making decisions on new submissions related to your research areas;
  • Reviewing manuscripts or suggesting reviewers;
  • Providing academic topic proposals for our Annual Focus Publication Initiative and Special Issues, related to your research areas;
  • Helping to promote the journal among your peers or at conferences;
  • Attending Board meetings to suggest journal development strategies.

We understand that researchers are usually very busy, so we try to ensure this role is not too onerous. Our in-house Editorial and administrative team will be on hand to provide additional support where required.

What are the benefits?

As a Youth Editorial Board Member at Current Medical Science, you’ll benefit in the following ways:

  • Contribute to your community by providing efficient, robust, and constructive handling of papers, and promoting progressive publishing ideas.
  • Raise your profile and benefit your career by being an active participant in your field, through your work on the journal and interactions with authors, reviewers, and fellow editors.

“Behind the scenes” view:

  • Serving as a Youth Editorial Board Member enhances your knowledge of how editorial decisions are made and gives insight into the peer review process.
  • Increase your knowledge of your field by exposure to research, and the expertise of your peers.
  • Opportunity to shape the field and the publishing landscape by acting as an advocate for the active research community.

Other benefits:

  • Youth Editorial Board Members are entitled to a full waiver on one publication per year in Current Medical Science (as first or corresponding author).
  • Youth Editorial Board Members have the authority to publish academic contents on the journal’s media platforms, including research findings, important academic conferences, and academic news, et al.
