As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times. Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time.

The focus of this special issue is to highlight and disseminate advances in operations research, systems analysis and management science to the study of natural resource, environment and sustainability. As such, this special issue will serve as a platform for an open dialog among researchers from different fields who use optimization tools for natural resources research. The goal is to share best practices that lead to sustainable management of depleting natural resources, such as, forest and agricultural resources, clean water and energy which are vital for the wellbeing of humanity. We expect this issue will lead to an improved understanding, and the development of solutions, to complex problems faced by practitioners who are involved in developing and implementing sustainable solutions to environmental problems.
Guest Editors: Nenad Mladenović (Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE), Panos M. Pardalos (University of Florida, USA), Angelo Sifaleras (University of Macedonia, Greece), Rachid Benmansour (INSEA, Morocco)
Submission Deadline: June 1, 2020
Although this special issue is linked to the ICVNS 2019 conference, this Call for Papers is open to the entire community of academics and practitioners. This call is about innovative research on theoretical, methodological or applied aspects of VNS with particular emphasis on contributions combining Variable Neighborhood Search and Machine Learning. The objective of this special issue is to highlight the powerful aspect of this combination in solving complex optimization problem.
Guest Editors: Yaroslav D. Sergeyev (University of Calabria, Italy), Le Thi Hoai An (University of Lorraine, France), and Pham Dihn Tao, (INSA-Rouen, France)
Submission Deadline: March 31, 2020
This special issue will present recent advances in all areas of Global optimization, nonconvex programming and their applications. The issue will be based on extended versions of contributions presented at the World Congress on Global Optimization WCGO, which took place in Metz, France from 8 to 10 July 2019.
The Best Paper Award for Optimization Letters is awarded annually to honor the authors of the best paper published in the journal in the previous year.
