  • COVID-19 and impact on peer review

As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times.  Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time.

  • SI: Mathematical Optimization Theory and Operations Research

Guest Editors: Prof. Panos M. Pardalos (University of Florida, USA); Prof. Vladimir Mazalov (Institute of Applied Mathematical Research, Russia); Prof. Alexander Kononov (Sobolev institute of Mathematics, Russia)

    Submission Deadline: January 10, 2021

This special issue is focused on theoretical topics of mathematical optimization including mathematical programming, global, discrete, and combinatorial optimization, game theory, and their numerous applications in operations research, mathematical economics and data science. Although, the main goal of this issue is to publish the extended versions of papers presented at the 19th Int. Conference on Mathematical Optimization Theory and Operations Research (MOTOR 2020), all other papers of relevant topics are invited for submission as well.

  • SI: Optimization in Natural Resources, Environment and Sustainability

Guest Editors: Dr. Sandra D. Eksioglu (University of Arkansas, USA), Dr. Sauleh Siddique (Johns Hopkins University), and Dr. Yu Wei (Colorado State University)

    Submission deadline: September 1, 2020

The focus of this special issue is to highlight and disseminate advances in operations research, systems analysis and management science to the study of natural resource, environment and sustainability. As such, this special issue will serve as a platform for an open dialog among researchers from different fields who use optimization tools for natural resources research. The goal is to share best practices that lead to sustainable management of depleting natural resources, such as, forest and agricultural resources, clean water and energy which are vital for the wellbeing of humanity. We expect this issue will lead to an improved understanding, and the development of solutions, to complex problems faced by practitioners who are involved in developing and implementing sustainable solutions to environmental problems.

  • SI: Synergy between Variable Neighborhood Search and Machine Learning

Guest Editors: Nenad Mladenović (Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE), Panos M. Pardalos (University of Florida, USA), Angelo Sifaleras (University of Macedonia, Greece), Rachid Benmansour (INSEA, Morocco)

    Submission Deadline: June 1, 2020

Although this special issue is linked to the ICVNS 2019 conference, this Call for Papers is open to the entire community of academics and practitioners. This call is about innovative research on theoretical, methodological or applied aspects of VNS with particular emphasis on contributions combining Variable Neighborhood Search and Machine Learning. The objective of this special issue is to highlight the powerful aspect of this combination in solving complex optimization problem.
