Cover story

With advances in science and technology, stomatology now plays at least four roles: promoting oral health, providing oral health care, treating oral diseases, and restoring oral function. This review focuses on research in stomatology (dentistry) to expand globally, highlighting the following areas that should be emphasized in the future: Understanding the link between oral diseases and systemic disorders contributes to early detection and effective prevention of systemic diseases. Innovative materials and technologies enhance solutions to clinical challenges such as peri-implantitis. AI, 5th generation mobile communication technology (5G), and big data technologies create new paradigms for clinical care, education, and research. This review aims to provide a foundation for more accurate etiologic exploration, novel therapeutic approaches, and rich big data analysis in dentistry, and to facilitate the translation of research results into practical applications for clinicians and the public.
