Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE A - Call for Papers “SPECIAL ISSUE: Low-Carbon Cement-Based Materials”

Proposed topic

Cement-based materials are widely used materials in the world, apart from water and air. Cement-based materials have played a vital role in the development of national economy. However, cement production contributes to 8%–9% of the anthropogenic CO2 and 2%–3% of the energy consumed in the world, which makes the construction industry face considerable pressure towards the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. Therefore, developing low-carbon cement-based materials has been receiving widespread attention of global scientists and engineers.

This Special Issue aims to present the recent progress and latest findings on low-carbon cement-based materials with for sustainable buildings and infrastructure. We welcome high-quality original research papers and state-of-the-art reviews dealing with, but not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Alternative Low-Carbon Binders;
  2. Alkali/Acid-Activated Materials;
  3. Supplementary Cementitious Materials;
  4. Waste Recycling in Concrete;
  5. Life-Cycle Assessment.
