The intersection of geroscience and neuroscience holds great potential for advancing our understanding of aging and age-related diseases. This call invites researchers and physicians from clinical neurosurgery, neurology, and neuroscience programs to contribute their insights and findings on the clinical and translational aspects of diseases affecting the central nervous system (CNS) in older adults. We aim to explore how these diseases impact the aging process and the long-term health of individuals, ultimately affecting their quality of life during aging. Additionally, we are particularly interested in papers that investigate the role of basic mechanisms of aging in the pathogenesis of these age-related CNS diseases from a clinical perspective.

Topics of Interest:

Papers are sought on a broad range of topics within the context of geroscience and neuroscience, including but not limited to:

Neurosurgical interventions for age-related CNS disordersNeurological manifestations and treatments in aging populationsCognitive consequences of CNS diseases in older adultsNeurodegenerative disorders and their impact on aging and quality of lifeAging-related CNS changes and their implications for the clinical practice of neurosurgery and neurologyRisk factors for neurodegenerative disorders across the life spectrumTraumatic brain injury Translational approaches to improving outcomes for CNS diseases in older adultsNovel strategies for enhancing cognitive function and quality of life during agingEmerging technologies and therapies in neurosurgery and neurology for older adults.

Submission Guidelines:

All manuscripts should be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Submissions can be made through the Geroscience submission portal (https://www.editorialmanager.com/jaaa/default.aspx (this opens in a new tab)) and must comply with the journal’s formatting standards. During the submission process, please select the "SI: Neurosurgery/Neurology" option to indicate your participation in this Call for Papers. The submitted manuscripts will undergo the customary peer-review process and will be published online immediately upon acceptance. Accepted manuscripts will be prominently featured in an exclusive online collection of articles, ensuring their widespread recognition and visibility. Additionally, each manuscript will receive dedicated attention and prominence through our esteemed social media channels.

The submission of manuscripts in response to this Call for Papers is ongoing. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Peter Toth via email at petitoth@gmail.com (this opens in a new tab).
