Water is one of the most critical resources worldwide; it is used daily in industries and is exposed to various chemicals, such as heavy metals and organic compounds (dyes, drugs, and antibiotics), which cause significant changes in water quality. Water quality is strongly related to human health, ecosystem safety, and economic development of the financial sector. There are various methods to remove pollutants from water and aqueous solutions. Some of these methods have disadvantages such as high economic cost, long time, and production of secondary pollution. Among the strategies that have received much attention in recent years are adsorption and catalytic methods for cleaning aqueous solutions. Most of the materials used as adsorbents and catalysts in adsorption and catalytic processes usually have low capacity, long operating time, and difficult separation. One of the materials that has received a lot of attention in adsorption and catalysis processes to improve the performance of the process is organic-metallic framework (MOF) compounds. These compounds have advantages like unique crystal structures, adjustable holes, high porosity, and small hole sizes.

In this special issue, we welcome original and review articles related to "MOFs application in the synthesis of catalysts/adsorbents for water works". In adsorption preparation, magnetized MOFs are more welcome. We also welcome MOF-based photo-catalysts.
