Wireless Networks - Call for papers: Security, Privacy & Trust for Ambient Intelligence

Overview:

Ambient Intelligence technologies pose a large number of security concerns. On the one hand, user privacy protection is a key issue for those who want to take advantage of the potential benefits of different technologies used in Ambient Intelligence applications. On the other hand, at the sensor level, many different aspects can create security risks. In fact, to ensure security in sensor networks, both the reliability of the sensor communication channel and the security of the sensor data must be considered. While encryption of collected data can be helpful in addressing some data privacy issues, other challenges require the implementation of different lightweight security solutions.

The success of Ambient Intelligence largely depends on the level of trust in the intelligent world that surrounds people, obtained through the level of privacy and security of the used technologies. For this reason, advances in cybersecurity protection are considered fundamental in Ambient Intelligence research. This special issue will provide an ideal setting to search for high-quality contributions in this active area. Due to the remarkable development of various Ambient Intelligence applications, a wide variety of scenarios requires different approaches and technologies to protect information security and user privacy. This is due to the main reason for the success of Ambient Intelligence: improved abilities to collect data on people’s everyday interactions and to quickly search large databases of the collected data, creating greater possibilities for the creation of personal profiles and other forms of data mining.

The objective of this special issue is to focus on all the aspects and future lines of research related to this specific area. In this context, we invite researchers to contribute original research papers and review papers continued efforts to understand new security and privacy techniques/algorithms leading to increased trust in notable Ambient Intelligence applications. This SI is linked to the 14th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing and Ambient Intelligence UCAmI 2022, held on November 29 to December 2, 2022 in Córdoba (Spain). Selected best quality papers from the event, after sufficient extensions and revisions would be invited for submission to this SI. A few open call submissions may also be considered.
