Wireless Networks - Call for Papers: Data Management and Analytics for Internet of Things at the Network Edge
Overview:
The development of Internet of Things (IoT) has significantly changed the way we live, from a variety of aspects including entertainment, sports, agriculture, manufacturing, and so on. Correspondingly, the ever-increasing prevalence of various IoT applications have also produced a variety of data, which forms one of the major sources of data facilitating modern latency-sensitive applications at the network edge like artificial intelligence, industrial automation, smart transportation, etc. Advanced management and analytics of such IoT data are of great significance for valuable knowledge extraction, behavior pattern mining and business process optimization at the network edge, and have been applied in a wide range of domains.
Data management and analytics are often correlated. For example, effective data analytics often relies on efficient data collection and processing. In turn, data analytics can inform decision making on data management. These have been studied intensively in the cloud, however, not at the network edge. IoT data management and analytics often involve cross-media information integration incurred by the diversity of data, such as images, videos, texts, sounds, and so on. Second, latency-sensitive applications at the edge demand quick responses and call for lightweight data management and analytics frameworks, approaches and techniques. In addition, cross-domain data management and analytics are inevitably challenged by various security and privacy issues such as adversarial attacks, confidentiality attacks, privacy exposure, etc. Therefore, a deep investigation of data management and analytics is highly demanded to achieve their full potentials IoT at the edge.
