Editors-in-Chief
Peter J. Large is a Reader Emeritus of the University of Hull, UK. Before retirement, he was Reader in Microbial Physiology in the Department of Biological Sciences.His research career encompassed the physiology of microbial growth on one-carbon compounds and microbial utilization of methylated amines and polyamines for growth. He has been associated with the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology since 1996 and Editor-in-Chief since 2006.
Julio Polaina is a Research Scientist of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), working at the IATA of Valencia, Spain, where he heads the Laboratory of Enzyme Structure and Function.His areas of expertise are microbial biotechnology and protein biochemistry with a strong background in the application of enzymes as powerful tools in industrial biotechnology. Since 2009 he is Editor-in-Chief of the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology.
Nasib Qureshi is a Senior Research Chemical Engineer at the United States Department of Agriculture (Agricultural Research service) Peoria, IL, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, IL, USA. He is a fellow in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the Society for Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology (SIMB).His research is focused on bioconversion of agricultural residues to biofuels, in particular butanol, upstream and downstream processing, fermentation, reactor designing, process scale-up, and process economics. He joined the editorial board in 2002 and became Editor-in-Chief in 2006 for the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology.
Miguel Vicente is a Research Professor (ad honorem) at the National Biotechnology Center, CSIC in Madrid, Spain and a member of the American and the European Academies of Microbiology.He studies bacterial cell division and the genetic underpinnings that control the cell cycle, mainly in the model organism Escherichia coli. In 1991, he joined the editorial board of the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology and has been serving as one of the Editors-in-Chief since 2006.
Reviews Editor
Ian Maddox is Professor Emeritus of Industrial Microbiology at Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand.His research interests are in fermentation technology, anaerobic fermentation processes and, more latterly, probiotic bacteria. He joined the editorial board of the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology as Reviews Editor in 2015.
