Plant Molecular Biology Reporter - Plant Molecular Biology Reporter is Searching for a co-Editor-in-Chief

Plant Molecular Biology Reporter (PMBR) is an international journal publishing new developments in plant biology.

Established in 1983, PMBR has focused on publishing breakthrough technologies and research at the molecular level of plant biology, physiology, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. The journal is currently expanding its scope to cover plant science more broadly, including in the areas of plant breeding, horticulture, crop science, plant pathology and ecology.

PMBR is searching for a co-Editor-in-Chief, who will work with current Editor-in-Chief Prof. Petra Bauer (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany) to guide the journal’s development. In particular, the candidate will help lead the expansion of the journal’s scope mentioned above. They will also provide input on strategic direction of the journal and new initiatives. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of broad research areas in the plant sciences.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with a co-Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and the publisher’s editorial office support staff, oversee peer review of and make final decisions on a portion of submissions 
  • Adhere to standards of editorial good practice, as defined in the Publisher's Code of Conduct (this opens in a new tab) for Editors-in-Chief of journals
  • Guide the journal’s aim to broaden its scope in the plant sciences
  • Appoint and lead a group of international Associate Editors, especially in the expansion of PMBR’s Editorial Board in connection with the journal’s aim to broaden its scope
  • Advise on hot topics for timely thematic series, selecting suitable experts to act as guest editors
  • Ensure all ethical issues relating to the Journal are resolved in line with good practice and the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE) (this opens in a new tab) guidelines
