Optical and Quantum Electronics - CALL FOR PAPERS: Quantum Photonics for healthcare

This special issue seeks original research contributions focusing on the following areas at the intersection of Quantum Photonics for healthcare: the category nBiomedical Imaging may explore novel optical imaging techniques, quantum-enhanced imaging, or photonics-based imaging technologies for medical diagnosis, surgery, or monitoring. The area Quantum Sensing for Healthcare Contributions will cover the development of quantum sensors and their applications in healthcare, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) improvements, early disease detection, and precision medicine. The Biophotonics and Therapeutics area may investigate the use of optical technologies, including lasers and light-based therapies, for disease treatment, drug delivery, or tissue engineering. Quantum Computing in Healthcare will focus on how quantum computing can revolutionize healthcare, from drug discovery and genomics to optimization of healthcare operations.

We invite submissions on a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Quantum-enhanced medical imaging.
  • Optical coherence tomography (OCT) advancements for ophthalmology and cardiology.
  • Photonics-based point-of-care diagnostic devices.
  • Quantum algorithms and applications in healthcare analytics.
  • Miniaturized and wearable optical healthcare devices.
  • Quantum cryptography for healthcare data security.


This special issue will provide a valuable platform for researchers, engineers, and healthcare professionals to share their advancements and insights in the intersection of Optical and Quantum Electronics with healthcare. We anticipate that this collection of articles will serve as a catalyst for further innovations and collaborations in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.
