Call for Papers: Special issue on Co-Simulation in Multibody System Dynamics

Co-simulation is an effective and efficient means to solve problems that involve multiple domains and multiple, often heterogeneous, subsystems.  It is becoming increasingly popular and widespread.  However, it poses several challenges, which only in part have been recognized, addressed, and solved so far. Multibody dynamics provides an ideal framework for multidisciplinary problems, at the same time serving as a high-fidelity approach for mechanical problems and a mid- to high-fidelity one for problems rooted in other domains.  Co-simulation is a natural choice to recover high-fidelity capabilities also in those domains, as well as a means to guarantee high-performance and even real-time solution capability for complex, multidisciplinary problems. This special issue of Multibody System Dynamics, the leading Journal in the area of multibody system dynamics, aims at collecting top-quality contributions in the field of co-simulation, with a pivoting role played by multibody dynamics.

Future challenges

The International Symposium on Co-Simulation and Solver Coupling in Dynamics (COSIM 2021), endorsed by IMSD and IUTAM, will be held in Ferrol, Spain, on May 23 - 26, 2021. Selected contributions from this Symposium will be nominated as candidates for publication in this special issue.

The deadline for submissions to this Special Issue is October 31, 2021.  Submissions that exceed the deadline, or the capacity of a single issue, will be considered for subsequent issues of the Journal at a time close to the time at which the special issue is published (next issue).

How to submit your article
Prospective authors can contact the Guest Editors in advance, for clarifications or advice, by sending an email to them.  A complete manuscript, or an extended abstract, can also be sent to the Guest Editors for pre-evaluation, and to expedite the editorial process.  However, this does not bypass the regular submission process.

All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publisher. Interested authors should consult the journal’s “Submission Guidelines” at https://www.springer.com/journal/11044/submission-guidelines.

The special issue is created as submission questionnaire in the system. When you submit your paper you will be asked if your paper belongs to a special issue. If you answer yes, a pull down menu prompts up where you can select “S.I. Co-Simulation in Multibody System Dynamics”. 
All submitted papers will be reviewed as soon as they are received. Accepted papers are published Online First until the complete Special Issue is published.
