Multimedia Tools and Applications - Track 9: Machine Learning in Multimedia

Section Editor: Hong Man
Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

Multimedia Tools and Applications announces a new track dedicated to fundamental and applied research on machine learning in multimedia content. Although significant and rapid advancements have been reported in natural language processing and computer vision fields, it is evident that many practical challenges in multimedia applications still have not been adequately addressed. This track seeks research works that explore a broad range of learning paradigms and methodologies, and provide insights to achieve high level concept abstraction, collaborative multi-modality learning, reduced data dependency, graceful performance degradation, improved modularization and portability.

Topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:

  • Large and small models
  • Multi-modality and multi-view models
  • Learning with less data and learning from synthetic data
  • Novel objective functions and performance measures
  • Critical analysis and case studies of popular models
  • Learning on edge devices
  • Dataset development

Submission Guidelines
Authors should prepare their manuscript according to the Instructions for Authors available from the Multimedia Tools and Applications website (this opens in a new tab). Authors should submit through the online submission site at https://www.editorialmanager.com/mtap/default.aspx (this opens in a new tab) and select “Track 9: Machine Learning in Multimedia” when they reach the “Article Type” step in the submission process. Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to the topics of the track. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Final decisions on all papers are made by the Section Editor.
