Multimedia Tools and Applications - Track 2: Medical Applications of Multimedia

Multimedia Tools and Applications announces a new track dedicated to medical applications of multimedia, targeting multimedia tools and application in the medical domain, where more and more videos and images are integrated in the daily routine of clinicians for surgery and diagnosis.

Topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:

  • Medical video analysis
  • Medical video browsing and exploration
  • Multimedia indexing and retrieval for medical videos and images
  • Multimedia user interfaces for clinicians
  • Multimodal analytics for medical applications
  • Multimodal processing of medical images or videos
  • Content quality assessment of medical videos and images
  • Content filtering in medical videos and images
  • Compression of medical videos and images
  • Fusion of multimodal data for medical applications
  • Processing of videos and images from different fields of endoscopy (e.g., arthroscopy, colonoscopy, laparoscopy, etc.)
  • Surgical skill assessment through video analysis
  • Augmented and virtual realities for medical applications
  • Medical and healthcare applications
  • Explainability of multimedia analysis algorithms on medical data

Submission Guidelines Authors should prepare their manuscript according to the Instructions for Authors available from the Multimedia Tools and Applications website. Authors should submit through the online submission site at https://www.editorialmanager.com/mtap/default.aspx (this opens in a new tab) and select “Track 2: Medical Applications of Multimedia” when they reach the “Article Type” step in the submission process. Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to the topics of the track. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Final decisions on all papers are made by the Section Editor.
