Mobile Networks and Applications - Call for Papers: Emerging challenges of IoT and Big data technologies for healthcare
Overview:
The next era will be the connections between physical things and the internet. Before Internet of Things, patients’ interactions with doctors were limited to visits, and tele and text communications. However, the integrating of healthcare with IoT into medical devices will help to improve the quality and medical service. For example, Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled devices have made remote monitoring in the healthcare sector possible, unleashing the potential to keep patients safe and healthy, and empowering physicians to deliver superlative care. It has also increased patient engagement and satisfaction as interactions with doctors have become easier and more efficient. Furthermore, remote monitoring of patient’s health helps in reducing the length of hospital stay and prevents re-admissions. IoT also has a major impact on reducing healthcare costs significantly and improving treatment outcomes.
Therefore, the integrating of IoT and Healthcare can heavily benefit patients, families, physicians, hospitals and insurance companies. Especially, it is of great importance for patients with chronic conditions and people who need long-term supervision. This special issue mainly will focus on the recent advancements on Internet of Things and big data of Healthcare. We would like to bring together researchers and practitioners in both industrial and academic communities to approach the challenge of IoT and Big data technologies for e-health, e-care, life-style, aging population, smart personal living, etc.
