Special issue on “IFCS 2022 - Classification and Data Science in the Digital Age”

Scope and Background:

The Machine Learning journal invites submissions on the IFCS 2022 special issue. The background of the Special Issue is on classification. Specifically, the scope of the special issue will be on classification principles and methods, general and transdisciplinary, but also connected to various specific disciplines such as, but not limited to, biological taxonomy, pattern recognition in artificial intelligence and market segmentation. Mathematical and statistical methods for data analysis are a core interest. This comprises methodologies for supervised and unsupervised classification (cluster analysis), analysis of similarity, and, more generally, methodologies for making sense of data and their applications.

Topics of interest (not exhaustive, papers on other relevant topics are also welcome):

Clustering, Classification and DiscriminationData Streams and Time Series AnalysisDeep LearningDimension ReductionFunctional Data AnalysisGeneralized Linear ModelsKnowledge Representation and Discovery Mathematical Foundations of Data ScienceMeta-learning and Ensemble LearningModel-based ClusteringModelling High-Dimensional and Complex DataNatural Language Processing and Text MiningOptimization in Classification and Clustering Symbolic Data AnalysisApplications of the above methods in relevant domains

All papers will be reviewed following standard reviewing procedures for the Machine Learning journal.
