*CLOSED* Call for Papers: The Application of REBT Theory and Practice to High-Performance Settings
The Journal of Rational-Emotive and Cognitive-Behavior Therapy announces a call for papers for a Special Issue on the application of REBT theory and practice to high- performance settings.

Manuscript submission deadline: 1 October 2021
This special issue invites manuscripts that report REBT-focused research concerning high or superior human performance. The Guest Editors seek manuscripts that examine REBT theory and practice in high-performance populations. This would include athletes, performing artists, creative performing artists (actors, painters, sculptors, dancers), those engaged in creative activities (authors, composers, choreographers), military personnel, scientists, and public or private sector workers.
Authors should keep in mind that this special issue strives to advance the knowledge base concerning REBT applications across high-performance settings. The special issue seeks to promote the work of REBT practitioners within performance settings and the work of performance psychologists and psychotherapists who wish to apply REBT in their work. We encourage submissions that consider a culture's role and how it influences beliefs, affect, and behavior in performance settings.
Articles may include:
- Empirical studies reporting REBT's effectiveness for cognition, emotion, and behavior management in high-performance populations.
- Detailed case studies reporting the use of REBT with individuals or groups in high- performance settings. Studies with single-case experimental designs (SCED) are strongly encouraged.
- Professional practice papers that discuss applied issues concerning the integration/modification of REBT's theory and practice within performance settings.
- Experimental laboratory and field studies that test core elements of REBT theory with a focus on performance processes and outcomes.
- Cross-sectional and longitudinal studies that validate and advance REBT theory within performance settings.
- Measurement of dysfunctional and functional beliefs within a performance setting.
- The presentation of theoretical models that integrate REBT into Performance Skills Training
- Studies applying REBT to high-performance topics including but not limited to skill execution, cognitive functioning, productivity, leadership, and athletic, artistic, and commercial activities requiring high performance under pressure.
- REBT as it relates to psychological responses to injury and medical and rehabilitation adherence.
- Papers that provide rigorous tests of the binary theory of emotional distress (BTED) that distinguish between unhealthy and healthy negative emotions.
- Papers that report the use of REBT in young performers (child and adolescent).
- Critical commentaries on theory and practice that advance the study and application of REBT in high-performance settings.
