Peter Bonate headshotDr. Peter Bonate has more than 20 years of industry experience. He is currently Executive Director, New Technologies in the Pharmacokinetics, Modeling, and Simulation Group at Astellas (this opens in a new tab) and has in the past worked at GlaxoSmithKline, Genzyme, Hoechst Marion Roussel, Eli Lilly, and Quintiles.  He received his Ph.D. from Indiana University in Medical Neurobiology with an emphasis on the pharmacokinetics of drugs of abuse.  He received an MS in statistics from the University of Idaho and an MS in Pharmacology from Washington State University.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS).  Within AAPS he was founder of the Modeling and Simulation focus group (which is now the Pharmacometrics group), was chair of the Clinical Pharmacology and Translational Research Section, and was AAPS Fellows Committee Chair.  He is currently Treasurer for the International Society of Pharmacometrics.  He has served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Research, and the AAPS Journal.  He has more than 65 peer-reviewed publications with an h-number of 24, is co-editor of the 4-volume series “Pharmacokinetics in Drug Development”, and is author of the book “Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Modeling and Simulation, 2nd edition”, which has over 40,000 chapter downloads since its release.  In 2015,  he was awarded the AAPS Research Achievement Award in Clinical Pharmacology and Translational Research.
