Aims and scope
The Journal of Insect Behavior publishes articles related to the ecology, evolution, and multilevel mechanistic organization of the behavior of insects and terrestrial and freshwater arthropods, including:
· data-driven original research
· theoretical and modeling studies
· reviews of topics of current interest and importance
· commentaries on articles published in the journal
· reports of technical and methodological innovations
Topics of particular interest include communication; social behavior; kin recognition mechanisms and kin selection; cooperation; parental care; mate choice; sexual selection; adaptive group structure; social networks; behavioral mechanisms of competition and resource partitioning; foraging behavior and diet theory; pollination syndromes; herbivore/plants interactions; mutualisms; mimicry complexes; predator/prey systems; parasite/host relationships; behavioral physiology; neuroethology; behavioral genetics and genomics; behavioral development and learning; behavioral syndromes; navigation and orientation; the role of behavior in ecosystem services; behavioral responses to anthropogenic effects such as artificial light at night, environmental noise, and landscape modification.
The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board of the Journal of Insect Behavior invite proposals for original research papers and reviews and will provide presubmission evaluations and comments on project conceptualization and design.
