Interactions - Instructions for Proceedings & Topical Issue Proposals

Interactions is glad to welcome your proposals for proceedings and topical collections. The journal scope covers all topics in Physical Sciences. Please review the journal's Aims and Scope (this opens in a new tab) and check if your work would be well suited for publication in Interactions.

Once you are ready do submit a proposal, please send an email directly to our publishing team:

Fabio Santos: fabio.p.santos@springernature.com (this opens in a new tab)
Cindy Zitter: cindy.zitter@springer.com (this opens in a new tab)

Here is what to consider when preparing your proposal:

  • Please describe clearly the subject of your proposal, including open questions and potential topics for papers.
  • In Interactions, the process of inviting referees, requesting revisions, and recommending final decisions will be managed by the Guest Editors (GEs). All Guest Editors are required to be experts on the subject matter, with a demonstrated research record. Please share the names, affiliations, email addresses, and CVs of all GEs.
  • In case of a conference proceeding:
    • Do you have an estimate of how many participants will attend your conference, and which fraction of those are expected to submit a manuscript?
    • Include a link to conference official web page or brochure, if available
  • In case of a topical issue, please share your strategy on how to attract submissions for your collection. Let us know if authors have already been previously approached and agreed to a submission.
  • In all cases, please share the expected timelines (start of submissions, submission deadline), expected number of papers to be published, and any other relevant information.

Your proposal will be analyzed internally and you will receive an answer from our publishing team in a few days.

All proceedings and special issues projects will be led by GEs, who will be given access to our state-of-the-art submission system. All manuscripts are required to be strictly peer-reviewed before publication. All final decisions recommendations (acceptance/rejection) will be analyzed by the Editor-in-Chief. The journal is electronic-only, and all papers published under your collection will be organized in a unique web page. Papers are published immediately after acceptance and production, so that the web page will be gradually updated until the completion of the project.

Interactions authors have the option to:

  • Publish at no costs, under a subscription model; or
  • Publish Open Access, by (1) paying an APC, or (2) at no costs if the paper is eligible for coverage under one of Springer Nature’s Transformative Agreements.
