Greenwashing in sustainability reporting and environmental claims refers to the practice of making false or exaggerated claims about a company's environmental performance or practices in order to portray the company as environmentally responsible or sustainable. This misleading communication can take many forms, such as using ambiguous or vague language, making unsubstantiated claims, or emphasizing minor environmental initiatives while ignoring larger, more significant environmental issues (Fuller, 1999; He et al., 2019). This special issue aims to advance our understanding of greenwashing in corporate sustainability reporting and contribute to the ongoing debate on the role of companies in promoting environmental sustainability.

Carbon neutrality is a state of net zero carbon dioxide emissions, which can be achieved by carbon removal from the atmosphere or reduced emission from its sources. Carbon neutrality is not only related to climate change mitigation, but also delivers unprecedented and tremendous changes to society. This special issue focuses on how countries or regions achieve carbon neutrality goals and their impacts at different levels.

The aim of this Special Issue is to explore to what extent and how inter- and trans-disciplinary research, methods, tools and practices of education and transformative learning can contribute to address the future developmental and societal challenges in the realm of urban sustainability transitions.

This Special Issue aims to explore the recent advantages of intelligent approaches to address the energy-awareness and environmental issues in Circular Supply Chain Management (CSCM). The reason for this attitude is that tangible results can save time and prevent future damage. Therefore, the proposed intelligent methods can significantly contribute to real-world projects. The results also provide a prospective prediction of the technical performance of the systems under study.

A circular economy involves innovative business model design, new visions, new forms of organization, and sustainable strategies. Thus, firms and customers play a fundamental role in the transition from an overproduction-consumption-based model toward a circular economy business model.   The way a customer buys, uses, and disposes has an impact on both firm production and the environment.

Decreasing the environmental pollution is a main target to develop the sustainability economics in the world nowadays. The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) are proposed and discussed in this special collection through the Internet of Thing (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The monitoring and measurement are criteria tools in the application engineering and industries. There are some research results of this topical collection which have been selected and presented at some different aspects to decrease the energy consumption and environmental pollution. The IoT technique has been studied for the intelligent transport system in urban areas, wireless body area network, renewable energies, vehicle ad-hoc networks, and intelligent medical system. The research and development (R&D) are being conducted through proposing the optimal solution to develop the sustainable environment.
