Call for Papers on New Technologies in Banking and Finance

Electronic Commerce Research is seeking submissions to a forthcoming Special Issue on New Technologies in Banking and Finance.

The emergence of digital currencies, decentralization of finance, and proliferation of new technologies such as blockchain, the Internet of things, and machine learning have created new opportunities and challenges for banking and finance, as well as the users of these services in electronic commerce. While new technologies in banking and finance may improve operational efficiency, risk management, compliance, and customer satisfaction, they also lower barriers and pose new threats such as cybersecurity risk.

This special issue will be devoted to novel explorations involving the adoption, implementation, and impact of new technologies for banking and finance, which may include but not limited to:

  • Algorithmic agents (bots) for relationship management and financial advisory
  • Algorithmic credit scoring
  • Algorithmic trading and markets
  • Blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and the Ethereum ecosystem
  • Crowdfunding and peer-to-peer (P2P) financing
  • Cybersecurity risks in technology-enabled banking and financial services
  • Decentralized finance, FinTech, regulation, and socioeconomic implications
  • Digital payment systems in electronic commerce
  • Digital transformation of banking and financial services
  • Financial technologies (FinTech)
  • Internet of Things (IoT) for banking and financial services
  • Machine learning for banking and finance services
  • New technologies for financial inclusion and financial literacy
  • Technology acceptance of new technologies for banking and finance
