Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds - Call for Papers

In 2023 the journal "Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds" will publish a special issue "Ukrainian impact on heterocyclic chemistry after the three decades of independence".

Ukrainian heterocyclic chemistry has a long and successful history, including the discovery of several classical named reactions in late XIX century and the foundation of several world-recognized scientific schools in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and other cities in the second half of the XX century. When the country gained its independence in 1991, several important changes occurred in the field of organic chemistry, which significantly affected the existing research centers on the chemistry of heterocyclic compounds. Thus, several chemical outsourcing companies appeared, resulting in new research areas focusing on sp3-enriched and hydrophilic aromatic heterocyclic systems of special interest to early drug discovery. Also, international collaboration expanded considerably, which led to the involvement of novel trends in Ukrainian heterocyclic chemistry, such as diversity-oriented synthesis, combinatorial chemistry, multicomponent reactions, sustainable chemistry, the use of microwave irradiation/ultrasonication/flow reactors, etc.

This Special Issue is dedicated to the presentation of new, important discoveries in the chemistry of heterocyclic compounds made by Ukrainian and any related scientists. In the context of the conflict in Ukraine, it is very important to demonstrate that Ukrainian heterocyclic chemistry remains strong and withstands most of its current challenges with great fortitude.

This Issue will include mini-reviews, regular reviews, and experimental articles (short communications and original papers).

Guest Editor – Prof. Oleksandr Grygorenko (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv).

Introduction of the Guest Editor

New Content Item

Prof. Dr. Oleksandr O. Grygorenko received MS (2004), PhD (2007), and Dr.Sci. (2019) in organic chemistry from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. At present, he shares his time between his alma mater as full professor and senior researcher, and Enamine Ltd. (Kyїv, Ukraine) as consulting scientist. His scientific interests focus between organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry, including chemistry of sp³-enriched organofluorine, organoboron, organosulfur, and heterocyclic compounds. Oleksandr is a co-author of more than 190 papers and 5 monograph chapter.
