Astrophysics and Space Science - New Associate Editor: Prof. Dr. Yong-Feng Huang

September 2022

“I am a professor at Nanjing University (NJU), China. I received my PhD in 1999 from NJU. Since then, I have been working at NJU (Department of Astronomy) as a faculty member. My field of interest over the past twenty years has been in high energy astrophysics, especially gamma-ray bursts, neutron stars and fast radio bursts. In a recent study, we proposed the interesting idea that fast-radio bursts may be produced by strange quark stars.

"I have led/taken part in a number of research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. At NJU, I have organized a small research group which includes three young researchers and several master/PhD students. I have been activelyinvolved in the scientific goals and research of several famous Chinese instruments, including FAST, HXMT, SVOM, POLAR, eXTP, HERD, etc.

"I am also active in education. I have supervised a number of BSc, MSc and Phd thesis projects. Eight PhD students have received their degree under my supervision. I also enjoy giving talks to young middle school students on various topics in astronomy. ”
