Aquaculture International - CALL FOR PAPERS: Future of Aquaculture Nutrition and Feed Research

The journal Aquaculture International publishes a continuous Topical Collection (this opens in a new tab) on 'Future of aquaculture nutrition and feed research’. We now call for papers covering the future of aquaculture nutrition and feed research. Some examples of review or original research papers that would be responsive to this call include:

  • Developments in aquaculture nutrition and feed research to secure healthy and nutritious diets for humans
  • Organic, innovative and environmentally friendly feeds for aquaculture
  • Feeding strategy and reducing food losses and waste in aquaculture
  • Developments in aquatic animal gut microbiome 
  • The use of antimicrobials in animal production and aquaculture
  • The value of sufficient, safe, nutritious, and affordable food for human consumption from aquaculture
  • New methods for aquatic food production, processing and conservation
  • Nutritional quality for aquaculture food products contributing to healthy ecosystems 
  • The potential of microbiome research in the food chain in aquaculture
  • Low food-miles production and aquaculture Aquafeed technology
  • Contribution of aquaculture nutrition in the post COVID-19 era
  • The future of “One-health” aquaculture approach, aquafeed and production systems that maximize aquatic farm animal health and improve the nutritional quality of human diet

Topical Collection Editor: 

Elena Mente, Professor of aquatic animal nutrition and physiology at University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Aberdeen, UK. She was awarded three competitive Fellowships, two European and one from the UK, on research on aquatic animal nutrition for aquaculture. She has more than 20 years’ experience in research on sustainable aquaculture, crustacean nutrition and nutritional manipulation of the aquatic animal gut microorganisms. She has authored/co-authored/edited five books (two in Greek), more than 70 peer-reviewed papers and ten chapters in books.
