Asia Pacific Journal of Management - Springer Nature honors Mike Wright

It is with deep gratitude that we mark the publication of the Special Issue on Familial Organizations and International Business and celebrate the extraordinary scholarship and intellectual generosity of Mike Wright, who passed away in late 2019, shortly after the articles for this issue were completed.   Among his many contributions to the fields of entrepreneurship, international business, and management, Dr. Wright was a great friend to Springer Nature for over 25 years, enthusiastically supporting our publishing initiatives, serving on editorial boards, advising on research trends, and contributing dozens of chapters and articles on a wide range of topics—from business startups and academic spinoffs to private equity and venture capital to technology transfer and corporate governance. Representing the breadth of his interests and dynamic collaborations with colleagues around the world, among his top-cited articles are “Opportunity Identification and Pursuit” (Small Business Economics, 2008), “Exploring the Role of Government Involvement in Outward FDI from Emerging Economics” (Journal of International Business Studies, 2012), and “Academic and Surrogate Entrepreneurs in University Spin-out Companies” (Journal of Technology Transfer, 2001).
