Antonie van Leeuwenhoek - About the Editor in Chief - Mike Jetten

We are delighted to announce that from October 2020, Mike Jetten has been appointed as new Editor in Chief for Antonie van Leeuwenhoek.

Prof. Dr. ir. Mike Jetten, Radboud University, NL, and his team study the ecophysiology of anaerobic chemolithoautotrophic micro-organisms in the nitrogen and methane cycle in a variety of ecosystems. This is done using a complementary array of methods. He is a Spinoza prize winner (2012), ERC AG (2008, 2013) and Synergy (2019) laureate and national PhD supervisor of the year 2017. He is scientific director of the SIAM gravitation consortium (this opens in a new tab).

He is a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences, European Academy of Microbiology, and EMBO, and in 2013 he was bestowed with a knighthood for his exceptional services to science and society. As of 2020, he has published more than 450 papers that have been cited more than 60000 times. He has supervised 58 PhD candidates and 34 post docs, and 22 PhD students and 10 post docs are currently working in the Radboud Microbiology laboratory. He has served as editor for Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Microbiology (UK), FEMS Microbiology Ecology, Archives of Microbiology and Environmental Microbiology.
