About this special issue
Silvopastoral systems are a form of agroforestry that integrates trees, shrubs, grasses and livestock in the same area of land to provide mutual benefits to each component. During recent years silvopastoral systems have gained significant attention as a sustainable alternative to traditional agriculture and livestock production systems worldwide, to address the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and food security while also improving soil fertility and providing a range of products and services to rural communities.

This special issue will provide a platform for cutting-edge research on silvopastoral systems in topics related to sustainable integration of livestock and forests, productive efficiency, climate change adaptation and mitigation, policies and strategies to scale up silvopastoral systems, farmers perceptions and intergenerational integration. The objective of the Special Issue is to present the main advances of these productive systems, in the economic-productive, environmental and social areas around the world.

This special issue explores these topics by showcasing the latest silvopastoral research around the world.
