The European Congress of Marine Biotechnology (ECMB 2023) was held at the University of Malaga, Spain, from 21th to 24th of November 2023.
The congress was organized under the scope of the European Society for Marine Biotechnology, and expanded upon the initiatives materialized from past events. The goal is to establish this as a regular opportunity for the disclosure of outcomes and continued scientific discussion on marine biotechnology. The congress was an occasion to gather the marine biotech community (from students to researchers and academics, as well as industry representatives), mostly but not only from Europe, for a congenial network that fosters the next generation of new project ideas, collaboration opportunities and friendships.
This Special Issue will offer a collection of full papers related to scientific works presented by the participants as either oral or poster presentations. Several different topics within the exciting field of marine biotechnology were organized as 8 thematic sessions:
Session 1. Biofouling, Antifouling, and Bioremediation
Session 2. Aquaculture Biotechnology
Session 3. Algae Biotechnology
Session 4. Marine Biodiversity and Biotechnological Regulation
Session 5. Marine Natural Products and Materials
Session 6. Marine Biomaterials for Regenerative Medicine
Session 7. Marine Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical and Cosmeceuticals
Session 8. Marine Feed, Food, and Informatics Tools
This Special Issue will be an opportunity for the participants of ECMB 2023 to present their works and increase the impact of their reported results, promoting further discussion.
The manuscripts will be processed following the standard procedures of the journal, with strict peer review of all submissions. Authors are kindly invited to review the Submission Guidelines prior to the preparation of manuscripts:
