Spanish Society for Microbiology

The Spanish Society for Microbiology (SEM or Sociedad Española de Microbiología) promotes basic and applied microbiology both amongst interested parties and society as a whole, encourages international relations and brings together professionals from the various microbiology-related fields.

As an interdisciplinary society, different areas of microbiology are represented by eleven specialist groups: Biodeterioration, Biodegradation and Bioremediation, Education and Communication in Microbiology, Filamentous Fungi and Yeasts, Biology of Pathogenic Microorganisms, Food Microbiology, Microbiology of Aquatic Environments, Industrial Microbiology and Microbial Biotechnology, Molecular Microbiology, Plant Microbiology, Protistology, Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Biodiversity.
