The Virtual Reality Journal, published by Springer, announces a call for papers to appear in a special edition that will focus on new trends of immersive systems and procedures, i.e. Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality for assessment and intervention on mental, cognitive, and physical health conditions.

Focus of this Call:

We specifically welcome papers that contain original and mature research to address applications of Virtual Reality and associated technologies, such as Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality, within the healthcare context, ranging from, but not limited to, assessment and intervention to education and training. A special focus is made to the adaptiveness of digital solutions to participants profile and to contextual settings. The guest editors encourage the submission of rigorous studies backed by data and data analytics, that discuss the advance of these technologies on conditions such as affective disorders, acquired cognitive deficits, intellectual disabilities, visual impairments, and motor disabilities. High-end options, such as AI, Machine Learning, Affective Computing and Synthetic Agents that are used alongside with VR and associated technologies are expected to be major upcoming themes.

Each paper should include a rigorous evaluation of the approach used.

Important dates:

Paper submission deadline: June 30th, 2022
Anticipated notification of acceptance: December 31st, 2022
