Tell us about your background. 
My parents strongly encouraged me to pursue a university degree, although they did not follow this career themselves. Nobody in my family came to the idea that studies of engineering could not be suitable for a woman. 


Why did you become an engineer? 
I was always many-sided and had multiple talents. Two of my main interests were mathematics and architecture. I finally chose the hybrid between the two: civil engineering. 

What advice would you give to young women interested in engineering? 
If they are interested in engineering, be it mechanical, electrical or civil engineering, they should definitely study this field and pursue a career. To be an engineer offers extremely many possibilities, also for women and men who wish to spend a decent amount of time with their families. The working conditions in engineering, for instance in terms of salaries and stress level, are much better than in many other professions.
