Accordingly, the book elaborates on the development of reliable, economical, eco-friendly processes through advanced nanoscience and technological research and innovations. Gathering contributions by researchers actively engaged in various domains of nanoscience and technology, it addresses topics such as nanoparticle synthesis (both top-down and bottom-up approaches); applications of nanomaterials, nanosensors and plasma discharge in pollution control; environmental monitoring; agriculture; energy recovery; production enhancement; energy conservation and storage; surface modification of materials for energy storage; fuel cells; pollution mitigation; and CO2 capture and sequestration. 

Given its scope, the book will be of interest to academics and researchers whose work involves nanotechnology or nanomaterials, especially as applied to energy and/or environmental sustainability engineering. Graduate students in the same areas will also find it a valuable resource. 


About the authors

Dr. Lalita Ledwani is working as Professor of Chemistry and Director, School of Basic Sciences at Manipal University Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Her areas of research interest are natural products, polymer surface modification techniques, green nano-materials, wastewater treatment. She is recipient of Research Grant Award 2015 from KWEF, Japan and also received financial support for research projects from different funding agencies namely DST, Govt of India; DST, Govt. of Rajasthan; DBT, Govt of India and UGC, Govt. of India. Dr. Ledwani has more than thirty research manuscripts published in reputed peer reviewed journals and books, delivered around two dozen invited/expert lectures besides over forty five research papers in conferences and edited one book. She is guiding UG, PG, Ph.D and post-doctoral students. Dr. Ledwani is associated with various national and international professional bodies as fellow, life member, or member. Dr. Ledwani has also organized various national and international academic events in a lead role.  

Dr. Jitendra S. Sangwai is currently working as an Professor in the Petroleum Engineering Program, Department of Ocean Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India. He has received many awards, such as National Award for Technology Innovation from the Govt. of India, Young Faculty Recognition Award, and Institute Research and Development Award for excellence in teaching and research from IIT Madras, Distinguished Faculty of Petroleum Engineering of The South Asia and Pacific Region from the Society and Petroleum Engineers, and others. Dr. Sangwai’s research interests are in the field of nanotechnology applications for oil and gas industry, gas hydrates, enhanced oil recovery and flow assurance. He gained industrial and research experience in an upstream oil and gas industry at Schlumberger dealing with flow assurances issues, and on several commercial projects on reservoir fluid characterizations. He published over 90 peer-reviewed journal papers. He has an h index of 22 with close to 1400 citations according to Google scholar. He has worked on the use of nanoparticles and their emulsions for oil recovery applications, drilling fluid design and for hydrate storage. His published work has been cited by several researchers.
