Mr. Lu Ye – Editorial Director, Physical Sciences & Engineering,

Mr. Lu Ye, as the Editorial Director is responsible for the subject areas Applied Sciences and Engineering in China, and most recently promoted as Director of the Springer Research Group, China, Lu has been leading the Editorial teams in Beijing and Shanghai offices and successfully shaped and implemented the China strategy. By working closely with colleagues both globally and locally, he has established and developed the largest high-quality journal collection from China – the Chinese Library of Sciences. He also initiated, designed and promoted the book co-publishing business with Chinese partners, which has led to a substantial growth in the number of academic books from China. He is also a strong believer in the Open Access movement and has launched dozens of successful OA journals from China. In particular, he introduced the concept of bulk-sponsored Open Choice, which has greatly helped these subscription journals to publish OA articles.

Mr. Lu Ye graduated from Peking University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanics, prior to completing an MBA at Tongji University and a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Lu has held various positions in the publishing industry in Shanghai, China since 1986. He had been the President and Editor-in-Chief at Shanghai Translation Publishing House for almost 10 years before he joined Springer in 2006.
