About the author

Salma Alrasheed received her bachelor’s degree in physics form King Saud University. She later obtained her master’s degree in physics from Michigan State University, after which she completed a postgraduate certificate in nanotechnology from the University of Oxford. She later completed her PhD degree in materials science and engineering from King Abdullah University for Science and Technology in 2017.

Her research mainly focuses on:

• Plasmonics, nanophotonics, nanophysics, beam physics and theoretical physics
• Modeling and simulations in physics and related fields

She has a teaching experience in physics for school and university levels. She is interested in bringing new approaches in teaching physics. Her goal is to emphasize critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in addition to the problem-solving skills that make students experts in the subject.
