Why Publish in Sports Engineering?

Founded in 1998, ‘Sports Engineering’ is the longest running journal in the field of Sports Engineering and Technology and publishes quality international articles on engineering and technology in sport. The Editor-in-Chief is Prof. Lloyd Smith from Washington State University and the Associate Editors are Dr Tom Allen and Dr Simon Choppin, from Sheffield Hallam University. The Journal intends to fill the niche area which lies between classical engineering and sports science and aims to bridge the gap between the analysis of the equipment and the athlete. The Journal acts as a forum where research, industry and the sports sector can exchange knowledge and ideas.
We welcome articles which extend the frontiers of Sports Engineering and Technology.

Official Journal of the International Sports Engineering Association

The launch of Sports Engineering coincided with the formation of the International Sports Engineering Association and it remains as the official journal of the association. The International Sports Engineering Association also promotes the field of Sports Engineering and Technology through a biannual conference, The Engineering of Sport. Authors who submit high quality papers to the conference are often invited to submit full research papers to The Journal.

Innovative Publishing Models

Open Choice
With Springer Open Choice the authors decide how their articles are published in the leading and well-respected journals that Springer publishes. Springer continues to offer the traditional publishing model, but for the growing number of researchers who want open access, Springer journals offer the option to have articles made available with open access, free to anyone, any time, and anywhere in the world. If authors choose open access in the Springer Open Choice program, they will not be required to transfer their copyright.
Further, Springer complies with the NIH Public Access Policy.
