    Aims & Scope

“Raumforschung und Raumordnung | Spatial Research and Planning” is a forum for topics and debates relevant to the field of spatial sciences. The interdisciplinary journal addresses issues of spatial development and planning. It focuses on urban and regional planning, demographic change and urban transition, landscape development, environmental planning, sustainable development, adaptation to climate change, mobility, economic geography, regional governance, and planning theory.

“Raumforschung und Raumordnung | Spatial Research and Planning” consists of four different sections. Beiträge/Articles make new empirical or theoretic-conceptual contributions to national and international scholarly debates. Berichte aus der Praxis/Practice Reports are scientific examinations of issues relevant to spatial planning and development practitioners. The section Zur Diskussion/Statement contains accentuated statements, comments and essays addressing current issues of spatial science and spatial planning policy. Its objective is to trigger controversial debates. Additionally, the journal publishes Rezensionen/Book Reviews of recent books.

“Raumforschung und Raumordnung | Spatial Research and Planning” addresses four target groups, both domestic and foreign: the spatial research community, spatial policy makers, spatial planning practitioners, and the interested public. The journal facilitates integrative research in the sense of transdisciplinarity not only in a national but also in an international context. Manuscripts are welcome from all spatial disciplines and may be submitted both in German and in English. The journal thus bridges national and international debates. After an initial screening by the editors-in-chief, all submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review by two anonymous reviewers experienced in the respective field.

The editors of “Raumforschung und Raumordnung | Spatial Research and Planning” are the Academy for Spatial Research and Planning – Leibniz Forum for Spatial Sciences (ARL), the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (IfL), the ILS – Research Institute for Regional and Urban Development, the Leibniz Institute for Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IÖR), and the Leibniz Institute for Research on Society and Space (IRS).

    Zielsetzungen
