Über den Autor

H. N. Murthy is a Professor in the Department of Botany at the Karnatak University, Dharwad, India, and his main research interests include: genetics and breeding, plant cell and organ cultures for the production of bioactive compounds, designing of bioreactors for plant cells organ cultures, biosafety of biotechnologically derived bioactive compounds, genetic diversity, conservation and utilization of neglected and underutilized fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants. With 100+ published articles and 20+ authored book chapters, he also acted as co-editor of the book “Production of Biomass and Bioactive Compounds Using Bioreactor Technology” (Springer, 2014). Throughout his career, he received several awards, including the Award for Research Publication by Vision Group on Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka (2011), the “DAAD Fellowship” by the German Academic Exchange Service (2011), and the UGC-Mid Career Award by the University Grants Commission (2018).

V. A. Bapat is an Emeritus Scientist in the Department of Biotechnology at the Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and devoted his career mainly to plant biotechnology, as seen by 150+ published articles in refereed journals and 60+ book chapters. He worked as scientific officer at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre,  Mumbai, (1971-2007) and from 2007 onwards has been associated with the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. In 1980-1981, he was a visiting scientist at the Max Planck institute, Koln, Germany. He is a fellow of two national science academies of India.
