Springer Nature announces new eBook collection: Intelligent Technologies and Robotics

New and emerging research areas such as ambient intelligence, big data and human-machine collaboration will be a major focus of the new collection

Heidelberg | London, 12 September 2018

Intelligent Technologies and RoboticsA specially-tailored eBook collection focusing on the fields of intelligent technologies and robotics has now been compiled by Springer Nature. This package focuses on interdisciplinary and dynamic areas of engineering which have emerged from the more traditional disciplines of automation and control. The decision to create this new collection reflects the increasing demand for academic books from progressive research areas that are already having an impact in society.

Monographs, proceedings, reference works, handbooks and textbooks will make up the new collection. Topics covered will encompass intelligent transportation, smart farming, the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities and homes, humanoids, Industry 4.0 and medical robotics. Around 375 titles will be included in the first collection, available in 2019.

“Intelligent systems such as robots, cyber-physical and embedded systems will drive technological and societal change in the coming decades. We have therefore decided to compile this new collection to help researchers and students working in this field,” explained Thomas Ditzinger, Executive Editor in Engineering at Springer Nature.

Bruno Siciliano, Professor of Control & Robotics at the University of Naples Federico II and co-editor of the award-winning Springer Handbook of Robotics, said: “In a few years’ time, robots will be as ubiquitous in our society as PCs and smartphones are today. The perception of robotics technology improves as we experience more ways it can help us in our lives. I am very excited about the launch of this collection by Springer Nature, which is considered the most active publisher in robotics today.”

The Intelligent Technologies and Robotics eBook collection complements Springer Nature’s established portfolio of 20 English language eBooks collections in all areas of science, technology, medicine, humanities and the social sciences. Seven different German language eBook collections are also available.
