The journal Membranes and Membrane Technologies publishes original research articles and reviews devoted to scientific research and technological advancements in the field of membranes and membrane technologies, including the following main topics:

  • novel membrane materials and creation of highly efficient polymeric and inorganic membranes;
  • hybrid membranes, nanocomposites, and nanostructured membranes;
  • aqueous and nonaqueous filtration processes (micro-, ultra-, and nanofiltration; reverse osmosis);

  • electromembrane processes and fuel cells;
  • membrane pervaporation and membrane distillation;
  • membrane catalysis and membrane reactors;
  • water desalination and wastewater treatment;
  • hybrid membrane processes;
  • membrane sensors;
  • membrane extraction and membrane emulsification;
  • mathematical simulation of porous structures and membrane separation processes;
  • membrane characterization;
  • membrane technologies in industry (energy, mineral extraction, pharmaceutics and medicine, chemistry and petroleum chemistry, food industry, and others);
  • membranes and protection of environment (“green chemistry”).

The journal has been published in Russian already for several years, English translations of the content used to be integrated in the journal Petroleum Chemistry. This journal is a split off with additional topics.

The journal uses single-blind peer review, with reviewers selected among leading scientists working in this field. It uses and plagiarism detection software and the manuscripts are reviewed by at least two experts in the field. The editorial board of the journal includes leading experts in the field of membranes and membrane technologies from Europe, Russia, and CIS countries.

PEER REVIEW

Membranes and Membrane Technologies is a peer reviewed journal. We use a single blind peer review format. Our team of reviewers includes 65 experts. The average period from submission to first decision in 2018 was 30 days, and that from first decision to acceptance was 30 days. The rejection rate for submitted manuscripts in 2018 was 10%. The final decision on the acceptance of an article for publication is made by the Editorial Board.

Any invited reviewer who feels unqualified or unable to review the manuscript due to the conflict of interests should promptly notify the editors and decline the invitation. Reviewers should formulate their statements clearly in a sound and reasoned way so that authors can use reviewer’s arguments to improve the manuscript. Personal criticism of the authors must be avoided. Reviewers should indicate in a review (i) any relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors, (ii) anything that has been reported in previous publications and not given appropriate reference or citation, (ii) any substantial similarity or overlap with any other manuscript (published or unpublished) of which they have personal knowledge.
