About this book

This book presents a detailed discussion of the fundamentals and practical applications of membrane technology enhancement in a range of industrial processes, energy recovery, and resource recycling. To date, most books on the applications of membrane technology have mainly focused on gas pollution removal or industrial wastewater treatment. In contrast, the enhancement of various membrane processes in the areas of energy and the environment has remained largely overlooked. This book highlights recent works and industrial products using membrane technology, while also discussing experiments and modeling studies on the membrane enhancement process.

About the editors

Dr. Zhien Zhang is a research fellow at the Ohio State University and also Visiting Professor at University of Cincinnati. He is Editorial Supervisor of Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering and Associate/Assistant Editor in several journals such as Applied Energy, Environmental Chemistry Letters. He also served as a Technical Program Committee member in several international conferences. His current area of interest is acid gases removal (i.e. CO2, SO2 or H2S, etc), gas emissions control and membrane technologies in the fields related to chemical, environmental, material, and energy engineering.

Dr. Wenxiang Zhang is a research fellow at the University of Macau. He attained the PhD degree from University of Technology of Compiegne (France) and accomplished the first postdoctoral research there. Since 2019, he begun to work in theDepartment of Civil and Environmental Engineering in University of Macau, engaged in the teaching and research on the area of membrane water treatment. He has participated in several research projects pertinent to water treatment of France, Macau SAR, and China. To date, he has published more than 30 papers (~90% in top 10% journals, 17 h-index, 900 total citations and 270 total Impact Factors by July 2020) on the core periodicals as the first author.

Dr. Mohamed M. Chehimi is Senior Researcher at the French CNRS. His main research topics involve the design of reactive and functional polymer and nanocomposite coatings. He has spent time and efforts developing aryldiazonium salts as new coupling agents in materials science. The applications encompass adsorbents, electrochemical sensors, reactive fillers, antibacterial surfaces, and electronic devices. He is expert of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy ANALYSIS of a broad range of materials including polymer composites. Dr. Chehimi has supervised over 22 PhD theses and collaborated with academic researchers from 20 countries. He has over 330 research papers, 23 book chapters and 3 patents to his credit. He is the editor of three books and guest-edited five themed issues. In 2017, Dr. Chehimi has been appointed Executive Editor-in-Chief of Chemistry Africa by the Tunisian Chemical Society and Springer.
