© Publishing House of Electronics IndustrySpringer Nature has signed a strategic partnership agreement with China’s Publishing House of Electronics Industry (PHEI) to publish English-language book series and journals to promote China’s technical expertise in the fields of electronic information and communications to the world. The cooperation will start with the two parties working together to publish two book series on 5G communications and the Beidou Satellite Navigation System. The signing ceremony was held during the 2016 Beijing International Book Fair in August 2016.

© Publishing House of Electronics IndustryMr. Liu Jiu-ru, Editor-in-Chief of the PHEI, said, “PHEI is pleased to connect China with the rest of the world by introducing China’s advanced technologies and industrial achievements to the global research and engineering community while bringing in high-quality academic books from abroad to China. With Springer Nature pursuing the same mission, we decided to forge this partnership. I strongly believe our cooperation will be long-term and fruitful.”

Dr. Hubertus von Riedesel, Executive Vice President at Springer Nature, said, “Academic research in China has been developing rapidly. We at Springer Nature believe the world is highly interested in learning about experiences and practices from China. I fully support our cooperation with PHEI in order to bring more high-quality content to researchers and engineers all over the world. I am also fully confident these book series will be very successful and have a global impact in their fields.”

China is playing an increasing role in setting a unified international standard worldwide for 5G technology towards 2020. The book series Advanced Technologies for 5G Communications will provide readers with a panoramic picture of the latest progress China has made with 5G standardization both theoretically and in practice. The books will explore China’s 5G key technologies and studies, covering ultra-dense wireless network, power and spectrum optimization, 5G network architecture, 5G WiFi, and simulation and evaluation of 5G systems, among others.

BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) is a global navigation satellite system China has developed independently, equivalent to the US’s GPS, Russia’s GLONASS and Europe’s Galileo system, and for which China owns independent intellectual property rights. Through the book series on BDS, China’s achievements in research and civil application of the navigation satellite system will be shared with the world. This will be the first book series demonstrating the new technological development and constructing process of BDS. The name of the book series will be decided at a later date. Since 2012, Springer, part of Springer Nature, has published the annual proceedings of the China Satellite Navigation Conference.

According to the agreement, Springer will also assist PHEI in publishing English-language editions of its current portfolio of academic journals and both sides will seek opportunities to start up new English-language academic journals.
