The book focuses on the key contemporary issue of Climate change, constructing the narrative from traditions’ of Urbanism through its Axiology and Epistemology. The book is a rich collection of seven chapters and attempts to address each of the aspects and building further for traditional Urbanism. The book further explores the synergies of traditional urbanism for Climate change through climate responsive practices with main thrust on Energy use. The said understanding is validated through the case example of walled city of Jaipur:  World Heritage Site 2019. The chapters enumerate how the traditional urbanism of Jaipur was designed that evolved as climate responsive typology for the respective geography.

About the author

Professor of Architecture and Ex-Dean have thirty-eight years of versatile experience of Academia, Practice and Real estate sector. Graduated from School of Planning and Architecture; New Delhi acknowledged as ‘Institute of National Importance’ by government of India. Senior Fellow with Higher Education Academy UK [Advance-HE]; recognized RIBA Chartered member and Founder member of Asian Universities Network Forum on Advances in Research: Japan. Has been a keynote speaker, panellist at international platforms, member of advisory committee for various International Conferences, Boards of studies, Academic council, Convener, Resource Expert representing Council of Architecture to External reviewer of Cultural properties for nominations through ICOMOS for World Monument Fund and continuing.  Awarded an Indo-Dutch fellowship to research on Housing Typologies in public sector housings and won first prize in a National Housing Design idea competition including the award of the project. Have worked on Indian Heritage Cities Network program, UNESCO; a continuation of doctoral work on Sustainability and historic city. Presented and published Chapters, papers on key contemporary issues. Keen interest in Sustainable Urbanism, Resilience, Urban design, Housing, Cultural heritage, Energy efficiency, Climate change, Transformations, Re-densification, Cities & Future Cities, Climate responsive design, building construction, Innovative design approaches, Inter-disciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches and SDG.
