Sieden und Kondensieren werden als physikalische Vorgänge und in ihren technischen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten für die Wärmeübertragung dargestellt. Modellvorstellungen und Theorien zur Beschreibung der Phänomene werden vorangestellt, die Probleme bei speziellen Randbedingungen erläutert. Der Stoff wird in dem Umfang behandelt, wie er in entsprechenden Vorlesungen benötigt wird, bietet aber auch einen Überblick über den Stand der Technik und weist auch auf Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten und ungelöste Probleme hin. Das Buch ist daher nicht nur zum Gebrauch neben Vorlesungen und zum Selbststudium, sondern auch als Nachschlagewerk für den Praktiker geeignet.
