About this book
This volume seeks to promote understandings of Chinese cultural and social contexts that are central to ethical engineering. By reading, discussing, and applying the knowledge contained in this volume, the hope is that scholars, policymakers, and (especially) engineers working in and/or with China will have a better understanding of Chinese culture and history, and how theseaffect practices surrounding engineering and technology. In turn, such understanding would lead to greater cooperation, better realizing the global benefits of ethical engineering.

Qin Zhu
Dr. Zhu is Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Education and Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Science, Technology & Society, the Department of Philosophy, and the Center for Human-Computer Interaction at Virginia Tech. Dr. Zhu is also servingas Associate Editor for Science and Engineering Ethics, Associate Editor for Studies in Engineering Education, Editor for International Perspectives at the Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Science, Board of Directors Member of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics, and Executive Committee Member of the International Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum. Dr. Zhu's research interests include engineering ethics, global and international engineering education, engineering cultures, and the ethics of human-robot interaction and artificial intelligence.
Xiaofeng Tang
Xiaofeng “Denver” Tang is Associate Professor and Director of the Division of Engineering Education in the Institute of Education at Tsinghua University and Associate Director of Center for Engineering Education, Tsinghua University. He is Associate Editor for International Handbook of Engineering Education Research and Assistant Editor for Journal of Engineering Education, and a former chair for the Engineering Ethics Division of American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Tang teaches and conducts interdisciplinary research in engineering ethics, international engineering education, and engineering cultures.
